To better assist our clients with their needs, PCT is expanding the capabilities of our laboratory in Helena, Alabama. We have installed a Perkin Elmer AAnalyst 800 atomic absorption spectrometer with graphite furnace and hydride capabilities. This top of the line system will allow us to provide low cost analyses for metals, especially trace metals such as As, Se, Hg, to our clients. Using various approved methods, PCT can perform analyses on samples such as wastewater, scrubber slurries, and samples associated with EPA Method 29.
Our laboratory also uses a Dionex ICS-1500 ion chromatograph. Anions such as chloride, fluoride, nitrate, bromide, and sulfate are easily measured with this instrument. This instrument allows in house analysis of samples associated with EPA Method 300.0 (water) and EPA Methods 26 and 26a (flue gas).
The laboratory is supervised by Dave Smith, who has over twenty-one years experience in inorganic analysis of water and solid samples. In addition to his experience in running various AA and IC systems, he has developed methods for ammonia measurements by ion selective electrode (ISE). In addition, he has experience in developing and maintaining QC/QA procedures to insure that quality data is generated.
